Overview
The MBA Solvay program is a one of the leading MBA Programs in the world leveraging the reputation of Solvay Business School, a 100 year old respected institution, in the heart of Europe making this program truly unique and providing a multicultural learning experience. MBA Solvay prides itself on the diversity of its student population. As expected of such an exceptional institution and program, the student body is equally impressive. The Students Government exists to be a voice of the students of MBA Solvay with the wider school community.
The MBA Solvay Student Government exists to help YOU the students get the most out of your MBA experience and making it as rewarding and enriching as possible. This includes acting on student feedback, planning social events, and offering products and services to students (e.g., yearbook etc).
About the Student Government
The MBA Solvay Student Government is an organization that is for the students, by the students and about the students of the MBA Solvay program. It represents and co-ordinates the student activities and interests throughout the program.
The Student Government fosters activities that bring together all classes of the MBA program by creating an outstanding and invigorating social atmosphere. It also strives to enhance the relationship between current participants and the alumni.
The Student Government also provides funding to a wide array of student initiatives, co-ordination and support to student clubs and events like the MBA Solvay Gala, “end of term” parties, adventure weekends, sporting activities etc throughout the year.
To achieve the objectives, the Student Government is comprised of a few committees and clubs and will have a budgetary outlay in the programme’s financial planning.
The Academic committee
The Academic committee enhances the program’s education process by facilitating communication between the students themselves and between the students and the faculty. It helps students find appropriate educational resources and support and works with the program administration to address logistical issues relating to the education process. Academic Reps also create peer-tutoring systems and encourage the class to harness the talents and backgrounds of its members for the benefit of all.
The Academic committee consists of 3 Academic Reps and their respective deputies’ one representing each class of the program.
The Social committee
The Social committee coordinates the class and program-wide activities for social interaction. It interacts with faculty and students in an effort to continue the development process of a MBA Solvay community.

The Sports committee
The Sports committee organizes and coordinates the athletic activities that bring together the athletic enthusiasts from the different classes together and foster team building and a sense of camaraderie among the students of the different classes of the program.
The Sports committee consists of 3 Sports Reps and their respective deputies’ one representing each class of the program.
The Gala committee
The Gala committee organizes the MBA Solvay Gala and is also responsible for finding the sponsorship for the Gala.
The Executive committee
The Student Governments Executive Committee is the coordinating body of the SG. Elected by representatives (Social, Academic, Sports and Gala) of each class in the second term of each year, the EC’s primary responsibility is to ensure that the SG meets its clearly defined Objectives.
The Executive committee consists of a President, Vice-President and a Treasurer.
The EC should steer and energize the activities of the SG to create an outstanding and invigorating social atmosphere for the program. It also works with Administration to plan the orientation program for the following year’s incoming class
The Student Services Manager of the MBA Solvay will provide some support to the SG, namely in its interactions with the MBA Solvay, the Solvay Business School or the ULB.
Mission Statement
To encourage and inspire students to launch, learn and live a dynamic and lasting MBA Solvay experience.
Inspiring students and encouraging them to contribute their capabilities and enthusiasm (launch) to the MBA Solvay program by harnessing the benefits of a diverse, rich and dynamic school community (learn) where strong and lasting networks are established (live), which can be returned to years down the road.
Objectives
The SG sets about achieving this mission by adhering to three key objectives:
1. To effectively represent the interests and concerns of all students
2. To support efforts to integrate students across all programs to harness the benefits of diversity and to broaden horizons.
3. To promote and support initiatives and events that creates an outstanding and invigorating social atmosphere.
The Structure
The student government consists is comprised of 15, elected by students in the second term of each academic year. In turn, the government directly elects three members to fulfil the role of President, Vice-President and Treasurer for the forthcoming year. These 3 elected members form the Executive Committee of the Student Government.
Additionally, event committee and chairs are appointed by the SG like the Gala Committee. The event chairs directly report to the EC but are not allowed to vote in the SG resolutions.
